NVTC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR KATE MATTICE NAMED 'WOMAN OF THE YEAR'
WTS-DC award recognizes advancement of women and minorities in transportation
Arlington, Va. - The WTS Washington, DC chapter honored NVTC Executive Director Kate Mattice as Woman of the Year at its holiday party last night. The award honors a woman who is an outstanding role model and has contributed to the advancement of women and minorities in transportation.
Award criteria include being a leader in transportation who has made an outstanding contribution to the transportation industry, directly contributing toward the advancement of women and minorities through programs or opportunities in the transportation field and advancing the reputation and credibility of women in transportation.
Kate joined NVTC in 2014, becoming executive director in 2016. At NVTC, and during her previous role at the Federal Transit Administration, Kate has built teams that have launched innovative programs, provided instrumental guidance to policymakers and fought for long-term sustainable funding for public transit.
As a mentor both inside and outside the workplace, Kate has supported professionals and also volunteers extensively with Scouting America, serving as a founding Scoutmaster for an all-female troop and leading National Youth Leadership Training courses. She has earned prestigious awards from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments and Scouting America.
